Education CS Ezekiel Machogu restores order in Meru University

Meru University students and Prof. Romanus Odhiambo have a reason to smile following a recent Education CS Ezekiel Machogu’s directive.
The university has had riots in the past few days following the ouster of vice chancellor Romanus for allegedly underperforming.The VC was temporarily replaced by Prof. Charity Gichuki.

The rioting students cited political ill-will as cause of prof Romanus woes, and vowed that they will not step into the classes untill he was reinstated.
In what appeared like a unified fight, the local business traders also threatened to close their businesses.
On 6 March, 2023, the university released a statement of indefinite closure of the institution.
“The university senate during a special senate meeting held on 6th, 2023 at pm deliberated on the disruption of university due to student’s unrest.
Arrising from this unrest, senate resolved as follows;
- 1.That the university be closed indefinitely. All students must vacateall the university campuses with immediate effect.
- That the 10th graduation scheduled to take place on 11th March 2023 be suspended until further notice. ” read the letter.

In move to restore order in the university, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu ordered for reinstatement of Meru University VC Prof. Romanus Odhiambo with immediate effect.
In his statement, the CS also directed that normal operations to resume tomorrow and graduation ceremony to proceed on Saturday as earlier scheduled.
