Jeff Mwathi case takes a new turn as Kithure Kindiki gives fresh directive

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has directed the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to take over Jeff Mwathi case and do thorough investigation. In a Facebook page he shared on social media, the CS has termed the investigative department, as dispassionate, adding that it will deliver the truth.

On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, I have spoken to the DCI Mr. Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action.

I thank the DCI for his quick action on this matter. The homicide team from the DCI headquarters is dispassionate, and this will help resolve the claims of collusion at Kasarani Police Station where the matter was reported.HOMICIDE SLEUTHS TAKE OVER JEFF MWATHI’S CASE,” Kindiki wrote.

Jeff Mwathi controversy

According to a statement at Kasarani police station, Jeff Mwathi commited suicide by jumping.

Reports have revealed that before the mysterious death, Jeff Mwathi was contracted by Mugithi singer Dj Fatxo to refurbish the decor of his shop and an office.

The excited 23 year old man left his home to meet with the Mugithi singer and discuss about the specifics of the assignment. He reportedly shared the good news with his mother who lives in Qatar and even asked for Ksh 200 fare.

After meet up, the two visited various night clubs with the last one being Quivers lounge.

According to CCTV footage, the two in company of three Ladies arrived at Dj Fatxo’s apartment at around 3 AM.According to the footage, Dj Fatxo left and the 3 ladies left the house leaving Geoffrey Mwathi with two men.

The two men were who appeared to be nervous were seen surveying the ground floor of the storey building. Moments later Mwathi body came down and hit the ground face down.

While speaking to the media, Mwathi family has disputed suicide claims addig that he never had any suicidal thoughts.

In response to Kithure Kindiki’s call, detectives have vowed to dig deep into the truth.

Detectives from the Homicide department based at DCI Headquarters, have this morning taken over investigations into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, from Kasarani police station.

“This follows a directive by the Director of Criminal Investigations Mr Mohamed Amin, for the expeditious investigation into the death of the young man.

The public is assured that no stone shall be left unturned in the investigation of this case and any person found to have been involved in the death shall face the full force of the law.”
