Catherine Muringo :I bought Ksh.700K Car 3 months after getting into Mitumba business

A while ago, Catherine Muringo left Kenyans in shock after she revealed that she bought a Ksh 700K car to three months after starting a Mitumba business. Catherine narrated that her second hand clothers business picked so well that she amassed huge profit with a short time. A section of Kenyans dismissed the claim as untrue. They wondored how one can take such a hug step in so short period. How did Catherine Muringo start Mitumba business Catherine Muringo got into second hand clothes business 9 years ago, when few players where in the market . While speaking in an Interview with the Standard, Catherine revealed that she decided to venture into Mitumba clothes after her Salon business collapsed. Muringo was devastated and hopeless after her Salon business failed to thrive. She had only Ksh.2000, which she used as starting capital. Luckily, there were few players into the Mitumba business and hence it was a walk in the park. "I began the business with 2000 shillings. At the time we did not experience much challenge because very few people were into the business," she said. Armed with Ksh. 2000, Catherine went to Korogocho market and picked kids clothes. To her surprise, the clothes made Ksh.9000. Catherine later met a friendly dealer who taught him various varieties of bales.This made her business more profitable. Catherine Muringo now runs a multi-millions Mitumba business in Gikomba and imports bales from abroad. “I prefer Canadian bales because they are clean. I also source from Australia, the UK, very little from the US and rarely from China. Before, I did not know that there was a difference between China, Canadian, the UK or Australian bales, I just used to buy them randomly,” she said. Nissan X-TRAIL CAR in 3 months While in an interview with NTV, Catherine Muringo sparked a buzz among Kenyan after she said she bought her first car three months after getting into Mitumba business. Catherine said that she made huge profit with a short period, that she acquired a Ksh. 700K car. "Things were so good. Within 3 months I was able to purchase a second hand Nissan X-TRAIL worth Ksh.700K," she noted.

Edgar Otieno: Man who left bank job to hawk pencils in Nairobi Speaks

The story of Edgar Otieno cuts an image of an ambitious and daring young man. Years a go, Otieno left many in shock after he left a well-paying corporate job to hawk pencils in the streets of Nairobi. Otieno who was employed by Barclays Bank (Now ABSA) tendered his resignation letter, and got into streets with hope if making difference in the hawking sector. Many Kenyans view hawking as a preserve of the unemployed and unemployable. To Otieno however, it was a great opportunity to exercise his expertise as sales person. He wakes up every day, grooms to an impression of a corporate officer and heads to the street to start the day off. Many of those who interacted with Otieno wondored why a man with a banking background would leave a lucrative job to hawk pencils on the streets. Otieno had a simple answer, "In sales, people buy the seller before buying the product." True to his words, Otieno's impeccable dressing and willingness to speak multiple languages has won him so many clients. "I have been forced to learn basic phrases of different languages in Kenya.Over the years I have been on streets, I have learned that people prefer to by from their own or someone who speaks their language," he said. Otieno who hails from Busia County began his Sales career some years back. Upon arrival in Nairobi, he stumbled at a company that was recruiting sales agents for pencil and cutlery products. He began so well and within a short period, he was already the top performing sales agent. The company closed in 2005 but that did not cut short his passion, but instead embarked on personal business. While speaking in an earlier interview, Otieno said he enjoy hawking because of flexibility, something that give him freedom to pursue other interests like education and farming. Through his little earning, he was able to enroll for a diploma in social work, with hope of getting a better job. "In 2012 I enrolled for a diploma in social work buit I have not managed to get any job. Over the past I dismissed several job offers.I declined them because none was willing to pay me better than what I get in a day." Many people still holds misconception about Otieno some. Some believe that he is an undercover detective disguising as a hawker. They wonder how one can wear so impeccably for a job that involves running after customers. "People buy with their eyes first. If you dress well, they will buy from you," he said.

Pastor closes a church after winning 100 million bet

If you thought you had seen it all, then you're wrong. A Pastor in Uganda has left his congregants in shock for closing down his church after reaping big in sports betting. Pastor Tim took the bold step after he won over 100 million from sports betting (equivalent to Ksh 3,480,000). According to neighbors, man of God held several outdoor crusades in the area, where he narrated how he had a divine encounter with the Almighty. He also performed healing miracles. “We are also in shock. Pastor Tim used to hold big crusades here. He gave very big testimonies and shared big visions, saying God had appointed him a representative of heaven on earth," said a residen. While speaking in an interview, the pastor left many in shock. According to him, his aspiration was to be rich and not to draw souls to christ. “Lete not lie. I was motivated into opening the church after I saw pastors making millions of money after pulling large crowd. That is the reason I opened mine. I did not have anointing," he said. Pastor Tim further revealed that he turned into gambling after after he realized that his dream of making millions from his church was farfrom reality. “All along I had plans to close the Church, but I decided to take everything slowly, since I wholly depended on the offerings for food.” he said. The man of God turned Gambler, used the church offering and tithe to place a bet. “I started gambling about 4 years ago. I would place bets on several platforms using the money I got as offering and tithes in Church. Sometimes I would come up with a fake Church project to get some money for bets over the weekend.” he added. Pastor Tim is now planning to use the win to start a business. “I am a businessman. My passion all along was business. I am planning to start a big shop in a town far from here. I will also get a nice car. God has remembered me.”

Nairobi is by far the largest city in Kenya, with amazing tall and magnificent structures. For a visitor getting into the city for the first time, a tour of the tall buildings may hurt you neck but only a handful will stick to your memory due to their unique design and masocic arts on them. Some of these building were built by highly dreaded Freemason society. Most of the buildings built have elements of resemblance in their architectural design. Most of them represents the city's political, economic, educational or religious powers. Some of the building in Nairobi buit by Freemason include; Parliament Building The legislative building was designed by Amyas Connell and Thornley Dyer for the British administration before Independence. It was however renamed New Parliament after Kenya got independence. One of its features that stands out distinctively is a miniature version of the Big Ben Clock, located at the Palace of Westminster in London, England. The Mausoleum of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the founding father of the Republic of Kenya, is found there. The building was however recently expanded in compliance with 2010 constitution to accommodate more members of Parliament. All Saints Cathedral The church was built in three stages.Its foundation stone was laid in February 1917. The architect Temple Moore loved the Gothic style of constriction, and it was consecrated in 1952. The church's stained glass windows were created by renowned British stained-glass artist AJ Davis. The last stage was completed in 1962. It is however not until 1963, after independence, that Africans were allowed to use the church to worship. Freemasonry was practiced by the foreman who oversaw the construction of All Saints Cathedral. Freemason's Hall It was built by the earliest freemasons who came to the country to construct the All Saints Cathedral Church. While in Kenya, they built their Freemasons Lodge along Nyerere Road. It was built in the 1930s and has always appeared deserted. City Hall The white building near KICC hosts the office of the Nairobi governor. One cannot miss the uniqueness of the building and the masonic influence in its architecture. The building was designed by Cobb & Archer. It was completed and accessible to the public in the 1950s. With a clock tower that stood 165 feet tall, it was the highest structure in Nairobi at the time.It was later expanded in 1981 after the 13-storey City Hall Annex was constructed beside it. McMillan Library The McMillan Memorial Library is the oldest library in Nairobi and the second oldest in Kenya after the Seif bin Salim Library in Mombasa. The public library sits at the junction of Wabera Street and Banda Street . The library also houses an extensive Africana section and rare first-edition books and works of art, including portraits and sculptures. The McMillan Library in Nairobi. Charles Karanja: Meet young kenyan making millions from decorating graves

Charles Karanja is one of brilliant young Kenyans who have special ways of handling the tough economic times. With high level of joblessness, Karanja decided to try his luck in one of the infamous sector. He ventured into painting and embellishing graveyards and he is making a kill out of it. While speaking in an interview with local media, Karanja revealed that his services though differs with those in the same sector pays him well. He disclosed that he makes an avarage of 3 million shillings per year. Karanja studied construction in his undergraduate studies. He however did not manage to secure a job. After unsuccessfully searching for job for sometimes, the Kiambu Based businessman decided to try his luck in decorating graves. According to him, he identified the sector as untapped market. True to his thoughts, the fast growing venture started so well and it has seen him employ seven people In the interview, the grave decorator said that the course he studied helped him set up his workshop where customers would come to him with original ideas like building a gravestone that looked like a house. "I build graves and embellish them. People are constantly coming up with new methods to honor the deceased. A long time ago, people were buried in the bush or a banana plant was planted to serve as a marker for the graves, but today, people honor and remember their loved ones. Karanja believes people should honour the dead with unique and permanent structures. "I assist them in doing that in a unique way. A person's special home remains thereafter burial for all time. So it's good that you respect the deceased and value that individual,” Karanja said. Karanja charges Ksh.60,000 for every project. On a good month, he earns Ksh. 300,000 and Ksh 150,000 in a bad one. This means that he makes an avarage of Ksh 225,000 each month and close to Ksh 3,000,000 annually. The venture has seen him employ several people in various capacities. "I have a managing director, seven regular employees, and a few temporary employees. I had no money when I started. My business was launched with the help of a client's down payment "He said His work is however not without challenges. Karanja lamented that some clients underpay or fail to pay completely. "Yes, I do face obstacles, especially on finances. There are times when a client underpays you and might even refuse to pay. I am forced to follow up by phone, particularly if they are outside of Kiambu. Some people would disregard and even block you."
