Veteran Bongo Flava producer Master Jay has decided to end rivalry between the fans of two Tanzanian bongo stars Diamond Platnumz and Alikiba.
The Bongo Star Search judge revealed why there should be no supremacy battle between Diamond and Alikiba.
Speaking during an interview with East Africa radio station, Master Jay argued that it is time for fans to understand that there is a cut out difference between the two artists, and that there is no common ground for them to compete.
He pointed out that the big difference between the two Bongo stars is that Alikiba is a singer with Diamond Platnumz is an entertainer.
In his revelation, he termed Alikiba as king when it comes to composing and singing in a melodious voice. He on the other hand said that Diamond is good in entertaining, especially during concerts.
“Alikiba is a good singer…Diamond is an entertainer. I don’t care what people say but I have given my honest opinion. There is a difference between entertaining and singing,” Master Jay said.
The veteran producer has been making headlines for several reasons, among them saying that Harmonize is not a good singer, but just an entertainer.
“A-list ya wasanii wetu wote sijui Diamond, Harmonize, Marioo ni best entertainers lakini sio waimbaji bora,” he said. “Alikiba is the best singer,” he added.
Further, Master Jay said lack of identity has made Bongo music not to go international. He said that most of the artists are working hard and copying Western Africa music, and thus lacking identity.
“For us to go international, we must have our identity. We can’t want to be like Asake, Davido or a South African artist and expect to infiltrate international market. Most of Tanzanian Bongo artists are doing well locally but not internationally,” he concluded.
