MITHIKA LINTURI BIOGRAPHY:Education, Career as Lawyer and Politics

The story of Former Meru County Senator Mithika Linturi is a cocktail of pure determination and handwork. Popularly known by Meru residents as ‘Captain’ the vocal seasoned politician has risen from a mere village boy to being Ministry of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary.

Besides being a politician, LINTURI is an astute businessman whose influence and presence has been felt across the country.

Growing Up

Mithika Linturi success story can be traced back in Amwamba village, Igembe South Constituency in Meru County where he was born in 1969. He is son of Julia Mwikamba and the late Peter Linturi.

Linturi grew up under close guidance and mentorship of his parents who were deeply rooted in church. His Mother is a catechist of Catholic church while his father was a member of Parish Council.

During an earlier Interview with Karimi County of Weru TV, Linturi revealed how his mother coached him on the Bible’s 10 commandments.

I always remember the 10 commandments my mother taught me. They are part of what guides me in life,” he said.

Mithika Linturi Education

Mithika began his education journey at Amwamba Primary school. He then joined the popular Igembe Secondary School currently known as Christ The King Igembe School.

In earlier interview, revealed how he reported to form one barefooted. He carried shoes in his box because it was a requirement.

Growing up we did not wear shoes. I remember reporting to Igembe secondary school barefooted.The shoes were in my box because they in the list of requirements,” he nostalgically narrated.

After high school, Linturi joined Kenya Institute of Marketing (KIM) where he pursued Diploma in Marketing. In 2001 he enrolled for a Degree in Advanced Accounting in an Indian University.

The vocal President William Ruto ally would later Join University of Nairobi and attain a Degree in Law. In an earlier interview, Linturi also revealed that he is currently studying a masters degree.

Career

After completing the marketing course, Linturi worked with several insurance companies. In 1999, he founded Arkehoice Insurance Brokers Ltd, an insurance company with offices in Maua and Nairobi.

Mithika Linturi Political Journey

Linturi first tried his luck in politics the year 1997. He ran for Igembe South Parliamentary seat on Safina Party but lost to Jackson Itirithia Kalweo of KANU party.

In 2002 he contested for the same seat on KANU ticket but lost to Raphael Muriungi of NARC. It is then that Linturi got to know Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.

In 2007, Linturi clinched Igembe South MP seat under KANU party.

In 2013, he was re-elected on TNA party. He also became a member of the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communications and Information and also a member of Public Investments Committee and House Business Committee. 

In 2017, he was overwhelmingly voted as the second senator of Meru County under Jubilee Party.He however lost his Meru County gubernatorial bid to Kawira Mwangaza during 2022 general elections.

Cabinet Secretary Agriculture

Immediately after the 2022 general elections, Captain MITHIKA LINTURI reaped huge from his close friendship with the head of state and his vast experience in running public offices. The former senator was appointed by President William Ruto as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture.

Mithika LINTURI Wife

Just like many politicians, very little is known about about MITHIKA Linturi’s love life. He has successfully managed keep most of his private life from the public domain.

He was however married to lawmaker Maryanne Keitanny and later broke up.

Networth

Mithika Linturi undoubtedly one of the most affluent politicians in kenya. He boasts posh cars and Luxurious homes in Karen and Meru.

During a previous interview, the former MP disclosed that he is worth 1.2 billion Kenyan shillings. This includes investment in various companies and Saccos.
