Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua faced fierce criticism for suggesting that tourists can visit Kenya to observe rare species of tigers. In a video that has gone viral, the deputy president who was speaking during an event in Colombia asked the audience to visit Kenya to see wild animals.
Rigathi Gachagua went ahead and named animals that stand out in Kenyan wildlife. To the surprise of many, Gachagua went ahead and listed Tigers as one them.
” We have rare species of our wildlife. The elephant, the Rhino, the Buffalo, the tiger….” He said.
A while a go, President William Ruto also caused a spark on social media after he urged tourists to visit Lami County to see swimming lions. According to an article published by Citizen Tv, troops of tourists flocked into Lamu County to see the lions, only to return home frustrated.
While reacting to DP Gachagua’s viral video, a section of Kenyans wondered why a leader of his magnitude was not informed on wild animals found in Kenya. Here are some of reactions from Kenyans.
“Huyu tulisema asitumwe kurepresent kenya anywhere yy afanyie udeputy uku kenya tu ona sasa🤣🤣🤣”
“Nkikumbuka after Ruto uyu jamaa anaweza kua president narudi kwa magoti tena 😂 kukemea”
“Mnachoma kutuma huyu mtu watume mudavadi kama ni outside the country na within like kwenda mrima Kenya watume riggy G”
“It’s easy to criticize than see the good… Rather than seeing he was selling Magical Kenya on the tourist who will bring some dollars we argue petty… They know tigers are not in Kenya but they are in the same family with leopards n cheetahs.. no wonder the comment on ” rare species”
