IEBC disclose why Kenyans may have a repeat election
Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission ( IEBC ) has revealed why Kenyans might have to go for a repeat elections.
According to the commission, there is a very low voter turnout in the ongoing polls.
In a statement issued by the IEBC officials, it is only 6.5 million voters who had turned up for voting as at noon.
“As at noon today, 6,5678,69 Kenyans had turned up to vote,” she said.
According to the commission, this is a small percentage of the total registered voters.
“This equates to 30.65% of the total 22120458 registered voters.
The Kenyans constitution requires that for a Presidential candidate to be declared a winner, he/she must garner 50%+1 of the total votes. Otherwise, a repeat election of the 1st and 2nd position candidates is conducted.
