Shock As Honesty Cost BOM Teacher Her Job
The female teacher elicited mixed reactions after sharing on popular Teachers Facebook group ‘TSC TEACHERS KENYA’ how she paid the price for being honest.
The tutor who has been teaching in a school under board of management (BOM) messaged the head to inform him that she would not be available on the official opening day.
The teacher is among those shortlisted by Teachers Service Commision. The commission is set to recruit over 30,000 teachers who will be deployed in primary schools and Junior Secondary Schools.
In her message, the teacher informed the principal that she will not be available on the interview date.
“Good morning Mr.Gitau.The TSC interview has been scheduled for Monday.I will be in school on Tuesday. Sorry for any inconveniences that I may have caused,” she wrote.
In his response, the principal who seemed to be annoyed by the message informed the teacher that her service was no longer needed.
“Just look for another Job kindly. Am in the process of replacing you,” the Principal replied.
While reacting to the post, Kenyans sympathized with the teacher for working under inhumane head. A section however blamed her for lacking courtesy in the way she addressed the issue.
Here are some of the reactions.
“If you were the boss, what would you do?”
“Get to know who your boss is whether he is human or a monster in human flesh.Know your boss behavior and how he or she relates with staff members then you are able to know what to tell him or her and what to keep for yourself.”
“The boss is full of bitterness and bile.”
“If I were the boss, I’d also have sacked you. Learn to ask for permission with courtesy”
