The marriage between Akothee and the father of her daughters, Mr. Jared Otieno ended in May 22, 2011 after a divorce case was filed in 2007. The marriage between the two lasted for close to five years.
Speaking last year during an interview, the 43 year old singer intimated that the marriage ended after the father of her 3 daughters got into a romantic entanglement with another woman. After the divorce with Mr Jared, Akothee headed to Mombasa where she grabbed any opportunity that brought food on the table.
“I really wanted to become a Taxi driver. I didn’t have papers to help me get a decent job, I only had form 4 certificate. He (Mr Jared) confiscated my certificates and my Identity Card. When I went to Mombasa, I could not secure any job,” she said.
While in Mombasa, she met the father of her fourth child. She got a son and named her Prince Ojwang.
