Raila Odinga suffers a Big Blow in AU bid

Azimio-One Kenya Alliance Coalition leader Raila Odinga has suffered a huge blow in is African Union Chairperson bid. This is after Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed support for Somalia’s nomination of Fawzia Yusuf Adam for the position of Chairperson of AUC for the 2025-2028 term.

The former Prime Minister will now face off in a stiff competition with Fawzia Yusuf.

The new competitor gives Raila Odinga a major setback in his AUC bid, considering that OIC has 30 African Members states. If Fawzia gets the support of all the OIC member states, he will be ahead of other candidates considering that AU is made of 55 member states.

While making the revelation recently, Somalia’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi termed the new development has a big win for Somalia, given the huge number of OIC member states.

Somalia appreciates and is grateful for the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which has nearly 30 members from Africa, for taking note and endorsing Somalia’s nomination of Fawzia Yusuf Adam for the position of AU Chairperson for 2025-2028,” Fiqi said.

Kenya Kwanza Unhappy with Raila Odinga

Recently, the ODM party leader sparked outrage among Kenya Kwanza politicians following his remarks during his visit to Mukuru Kwa Njenga flood victims.

In his speech, Raila condemned the ongoing evictions in the Mukuru slums, the the government as inhumane.

Further, the unleashed wrath on President William Ruto, in which he termed him as a clueless leader.

In their comeback, a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders fired back at Raila Odinga. Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa called out the former Prime Minister for being ungrateful despite president’s efforts to pull him out of the mud.

“The President is busy trying to get you a job [AUC] but you are busy condemning the government,” he said.
