Subuiga Accident Involving A Bus,Matatu And Lorry Leaves 11 Dead
Subuiga accident leaves 11 dead dead and others fighting for their lives. Seven of them are alleged to have been heading to Ruger’s performance at Kinoru Stadium in Meru
A grisly road accident at Subuiga, Meru Couny has left 11 people dead and several others fighting for their lives.
The bus plying Nanyuki-Meru road is reported to have lost control at the famous Subuiga black spot at around 7 PM on Saturday evening.. It then rammed on the rear of a PSV Menany Toyota Matatu. The bus also went ahead and hit a prime mover truck.
7 passengers from the Matatu are reported to have died on the spot. In addition, 4 other people in the bus died on the spot raising total fatalities to 11.
Several others who sustained severe injuries were rushed to St. Theresa Mission Hospital for treatment. The 11 bodies of the deceased are now at Meru Referral Hospital’s Morgue awaiting autopsy and identification.
According to the witnesses, the passengers could have a hired the bust to transport them to Ruger performance in Kinoru stadium, Meru County. In his statement, the victims appeared drunk and there were a lot of beer bottles in the bus.
“I was among those who came here to to rescue. Several people have been rushed to the hospital. It appears like the bus was either fro or to a functions. Almost all passengers in the bus appeared drunk. There were also several bottles of alcoholic drinks in the bus,” he stated.
The residents have now pleaded with the County government together with the national government to do something about the black spot.
