Kenyan Marathoner Hellen Obiri clinched the third position in Paris Olympics 2024 Women Marathon, giving Kenya the eleventh medal in the competitions.
Obiri completed the 42-kilometer race in a record of 2.23.10, Holand Marathoner Sifan Hassan (2.22.55) and Tigist Asefa of Ethiopia (2.22.58).Another Kenyan athlete Sharon Lokedi emerged fourth in the Women Marathon after running for a record of 2.23.14. She missed the medal by very few seconds.
Obiri and Lokedi posed a stiff competition, and they all maintained a lead almost the entire 42 Kilometers. They were however overpowered by Hassan and Asefa in the last 200 meters.
Kenyan Athletes Who Won Medals In Paris Olympics 2024
The bronze medal in the Women Marathon has brought the number of Bronze medals won by Kenyans in Paris Olympics 2024 to five.
The Kenyan team has also brought home four gold medals and 2 silver medals from the Paris Olympics 2024.

The gold medals were won by Beatrice Chebet in 5000m Women race and 10000m women, Faith Kipyegon in 1500m race and Emmanuel Wanyonyi in 800m men race.
Also, Faith Kipyegon won a silver medal in 5000m women race, while Ronald Kwemoi won silver in 5000m men race.
Kenyans who won bronze medals were; Mary Moraa (800m Women race), Faith Cherotich (3000m Women Steeplechase ), Abraham Kibiwot (3000m men steeplechase ), Benson Kipruto (Men marathon ), na Hellen Obiri in Women Marathon.
