Kenya’s first lady Mama Rachel Ruto left congregation in stitches today after she offered to get Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi a Kalenjin wife.
Mama Rachel Ruto was speaking during a church service at St.Thomas Athi Catholic Church in Igembe, Meru County.
The first lady jokingly said that she had confirmed from Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi that Mp Mwirigi was indeed single.
“Nimeuliza waziri kama umeoa akasema hujaoa…ni kweli?,” she asked amidst laughter.

Upon confirming that the lawmaker has not yet found his rib, the president’s wife offered to help him get a sweetheart from the Rift Valley.
“Nilikuwa nimesema kama wasichana wa Meru hawapatikani, Nimeskia kanisa ikiimba nyimbo za kikalenjin. Nataka nimpeleke huko Rift valley nimsaidie kutafuta bibi.”
Mama Rachel Ruto further advised the parliament not to take long before tying the knot. According to her, family is an important.
“Na kama vile tumesema mambo ya family is very important. Mweshimiwa husikae sana. Ulichaguliwa ukiwa 23 years, hio tunaelewa but 29 years…at least tafuta nyumba wapate pa kuja. Atleast constituents wako wakikuja, wapate mtu wa kuwapikia chai,” she concluded.
John Paul broke the record in 2017 when he floored political heavyweights to be the youngest parliament to be elected.
