Police in Migori have arrested a form four student for kidnapping self and demanding Ksh. 20,000 ransom.
According to the reports, Joseph Odhiambo, a 22 year old student of Kamunda Secondary School in Awendo, Migori County executed the act on January 5, 2023.
The young man claimed to be abducted by unknown individuals on 5th January.
He later appeared home four days later with clothes having blood stains claiming that the abductors had released him.
The nonsense mother however frog-matched him to the police station after she realized that his story was not adding up.
After interrogation, the boy confessed that he bought cow blood from the local butchery and stained his clothes to create an impression of brutally attacked person.
According to Odhiambo, he engaged in the act in order to clear Ksh. 20,000 fee arrears.
“My mother has been paying fees in small portion. There was a sick cow at home. I thought it was good to have the cow sold so that I can clear school fees,” Odhiambo said.
The mother however dismissed the claims and added that she did not have any arrears.
Police Officers have now asked parents not to hide children with such behaviors in the society.
