Former CNN anchor Don Lemon Weds long time lover Tim Malone

Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor, who now hosts his own streaming program, The Don Lemon Show, walked down the isle with his longtime lover Tim Malone, a distinguished real estate broker.

The two lovebirds wedded on April 6 in a colourful ceremony held in New York City.

The event which was held at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in midtown Manhattan was presided by the United States ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield — in front of roughly 140 guests.

For the service, the grooms — who wore custom suits by Suit Supply and exchanged rings designed by Mark Lash — incorporated marriage traditions inspired by each of their families into their unique ceremony.

“Tim is from a big Irish family, so we planned a big Irish blessing in there in his ceremony,” Lemon says. He also notes the blessing was led by Malone’s two sisters.

Lemon also added that “at the end we jump(ed) over a broom.” This, Lemon and Malone said, pays respect to the once symbolic way for enslaved people in the American South to recognize their marriages, noting that today this tradition is a way to honor those who did it before them.

A number of high-profile celebrities drawn from news organizations and Hollywood also attended the nuptials.

Some of the celebrity guests included former “Today” show host Matt Lauer, “View” co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro, Hollywood legend Alec Baldwin, music icon Clive Davis, “Real Housewives of New York City” alum Luann de Lesseps and broadcaster Tamron Hall.

According to Daily Mail, the ceremony was followed by a reception at Ralph Lauren’s Polo bar.

The big day comes eight years after the pair, who met at Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton, New York, first started dating.

The event also fell on Malone’s birthday as well as the five-year anniversary of their engagement.

After saying “I do,” the grooms flashed huge smiles as they exited the church carrying their three dogs who were part of the event.

The newlyweds entered the church as Loius Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” played loud. Later, they exited to the Stevie Wonder classic, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”.
