Azimio la Umoja allied politicians have thrown a jab at Deputy President William Ruto over Rigathi Gachagua choice.
The rather excited politicians now says that Ruto made a wrong choice and he will lose in the highly contested August elections.
Taking to social media, Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui now says that William Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua was God-sent because he is instead campaigning for Raila Odinga.
“God works in mysterious ways, so they say. In the political context, never has it been demonstrated better than in recent weeks.
The choice of Rigathi Gachagua by the yellow team (Kenya Kwanza) was God sent. He has turned out to be the single most important asset to the rival team.
His creative and bold approach to campaigning for his opponent is very ingenious. This has come to be known as the ‘Rigathe effect’ when the choice of your opponent becomes exceedingly beneficial to your campaign,” he stated.
The governor now says that Rigathi will bring more votes to the opponent team.
“There is no doubt he will marshal more votes for baba (azimio) than any other single politician. As I have already stated, the election was won or lost at the running mate level. Sometimes God answers your prayers through your opponent,” he added.
Rigathi Gachagua a wrong choice
The words of Lee Kinyanjui have been echoed by Kitui governor Charity Ngilu. According to her, Rigathi Gachagua is burden to Kenya Kwanza team and probably forced himself into the running mate position.
“There is no way William Samoei Ruto picked the DO for running mate out of his own free will, he must have been held hostage in some type of way. Otherwise, how else would anyone justify a choice that loses you votes every time he opens his mouth to speak? Disastrous,” she stated.
Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata has however defended Rigathi Gachagua as their preferred choice.
“William Ruto called me. He wanted to give me the DP position. I asked hime to give Rigathi Gachagua,” he said.
