As usual Kenyans do not disappoint when it comes to public holidays. Interior CS Kindiki’s announcement that Monday November 13th will be be a tree planting Public holiday was welcomed with a lot of celebration.
Through a social media post, Kithure Kindiki explained that the day was set apart for tree planting in a bid to actualize the president’s aspiration of having 15 billion trees planted.
“Following the decision of the Cabinet sitting in Mombasa on Friday November 3, 2023, the Government has declared a special holiday on Monday, November 13, 2023, during which the public across the Country shall be expected to plant trees as a patriotic contribution to the national efforts to save our Country from the devastating effects of Climate Change,” he wrote in parts.

Since the announcement of the public holiday, Kenyans have expressed mixed and hilarious reactions.
While a section appeared to support the government’s plan to make Kenya green, some reactions suggested that a section of Netizens misunderstood the meaning of ‘siku ya kupanda miti’.
A section of Netizens have been spicing the internet with funny clips while preparing to make merry during the day. Other reactions suggested that ‘siku ya kupanda miti’meant a day of having steamy sessions.
