When it comes to the bumpy road from grass to grace, Yvonne Okwara tale is one that is difficult to forget.

Yvonne Okwara was born on March 16, 1983, as the third and final child in a household of three.

She attended All Saints Cathedral Primary School in Nairobi before moving on to Kianda High School.

Her hard work, persistence, and zeal got her to university, where she studied at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

What many people don’t know about her is that she worked as a server at Walker’s Restaurant at one point in her life.

Despite the extended working hours, she was only paid Sh 150 each day while working there.

By God’s mercy, she was hired by Kenya’s Broadcasting Company to host children’s variety shows for Ksh500 every episode.

She then left KBC to work at other radio and television stations, including Hot 96, Q FM, and KTN News.

She is currently employed with Royal Media Services (Citizen TV) as a senior news anchor and editor in charge of research and planning.

It is estimated that she makes at least Sh 500,000 per month, including allowances.
