Teachers have over the ages received recognition as the molder of destinies. This has been attributed to high level of skills and discipline they receive during their training.

There is a general belief that teachers make the best spouses. It is believed that good qualities they posses, teachers are able to propel their spouses to greater heights.

While this has not been scientifically proven, it has emerged that a number of Kenya’s high profile politicians have married teachers.

Here are three teachers whose husbands are high profile politicians.

1.Rachel Ruto

Rachel Ruto is the wife of President Elect William Samoei Ruto. Unknown to many, Rachel is a teacher by Profession.

She attended Primary School in Likuyani Primary School, Kakamega County. She then proceeded to Butere girls for O and A levels. Thereafter Rachel joined Kenyatta university where she pursued Bachelor Of Education degree.

During an Interview with Churchill show in 2011, William Ruto revealed that he started dating Rachel while she was undergoing teaching practice at Kessup secondary school.

Even though she did not get a chance to practice her profession for long, Rachel has been forefront in mentoring women leaders in the society.

2. Margret Kenyatta

Margret Kenyatta is the wife of the exiting President Uhuru Kenyatta. She came into limelight when her husband became the fourth President of Kenya.

Margret did her Bachelor of Education Degree in Kenyatta University. She however doesn’t have a history of practicing the profession.

She has however been very vocal in promoting maternal and child health in the society through her popular Beyond Zero campaign.

3. Idah Odinga

Idah Odinga is the wife of powerful Kenya’s politician Raila Odinga. She has been recognized as an activist and an educator.

Idah completed her secondary school education at Ogande Girls High School. She later joined University of Nairobi where she studied Bachelor of Education Degree.

Idah began her teaching profession at Kenya high secondary school. During her teaching career, Idah is remembered of raising powerful politicians like the late Bomet governor Joyce Laboso.

Idah Odinga’s teaching career was cut short in 1980s. This was during the KANU regime when her husband Raila Odinga was forefront in fighting for Democracy.

In 1991, she founded the league of Kenyan women voters in a bid to place women into leadership position.

Ever since, Idah Odinga has taken a big milestone in fighting for Women position in the society.
