Family in Igembe south, Meru living in fear after brutal murder of their kin
Residents of Kathurumu village, igembe south in Meru county are in search of a fugitive serial killer who murdered his two step brothers in cold blood over land row.
Mr. Stanley Ntarangwi who was recently released from prison after a 14-year jail term reportedly butchered Mr. Charles Kathongi, 43 and Mr Joseph Mukaria 54 over land dispute. Ntarangwi who had disguised himself as a saved person is reported to have picked a quarrel over a small piece of land allocated to him.
On 30th December 2021, Ntarangwi confronted the late Charles Kathungi accusing him of harvesting his mature trees. He later attacked him with a machete before fleeing. On 25th of January 2022 Ntarangwi ambushed his other step brother joseph mukaria. Mukaria was from the shop when he was murdered in broad daylight by his brother.
Friends and family members have expressed fear they can’t carry out the burial process in peace.
“we can’t even bury the deceased in peace. We are scared that Ntarangwi might appear from nowhere and attack us,” cried one of the family members.
Family members have further expressed fear that Ntarangwi could be working with sympathizers to execute the murders.
“My son came and informed me that his father had been killed in broad day light by his brother. I still can’t comprehend why the villagers did not inform him of the looming danger. They could as well have rescued him,” wife of joseph Mukaria narrated.
The area chief Mr. Japheth Kaibiria now says police officers and nyumba kumi elders have launched search Ntaranwgi who according to the reports carries a two-edged razorblade sharp machete . The chief says that the team want to explore the possibility of Ntarangwi being harbored by friends.
